Relaxing Vacation Getaways

EVEN THINKING ABOUT RELAXING VACATION GETAWAYS
IS A PROVEN WAY TO RELIEVE STRESS!

Relaxing Vacation Getaways

No question about it, getting away and leaving it all behind for a time can be an excellent stress management technique!

With a little relaxing travel destinations research and attention to details that will ensure a high 'relaxation factor' you can be your own best stress buster.

Here you'll find some links for top relaxing travel destinations, top 10 noise and stress free travel spots, spa resort getaways, quick weekend or day trips, budget travel escapes, or romantic destinations -- give some thought to whatever kind of travel escape feels like the best stress relieving prescription for you.

BUT HERE'S THE BEST PART!

EVEN AN IMAGINED VACATION GETAWAY RELIEVES STRESS!

Don't hesitate to take a dream vacation in your mind! Armchair travel is shown to be a tremendous relaxer simply because there are parts of your brain that do not distinguish between a real experience and an imagined one! So even day dreaming about luxury destination vacation getaways gets those beneficial stress busting neurochemcials flowing in your brain.

Another part of your brain gets logically invested in the imaginary vacation getaway and supports the stress fighting neurochemcial response.

TAKE A GETAWAY OR IMAGINE TAKING ONE - EITHER WAY YOU WIN!

On one hand getting your imagination in gear and enjoying contemplating getting away and on the other shifting your brain to planning the practical aspects -- you win freedom from stress either way.

So, here's a quick list of stress escape no-nos:

  • no red-eye overnight flights,

  • no business commuter time, or holiday flights
  • no tight travel connections,
  • no luggage that if lost will wreck your vacation,
  • no kids or pets (optional),
  • no Caribbean destinations in hurricane season,
  • no destinations with flu outbreaks etc.,
  • no destinations with political unrest happening,
  • no destinations with poor hygiene or very unfamiliar food.

And a quick list of stress escape must-haves:

  • Pack your own stress relievers and relaxers, such as herbal tea, aromatherapy etc.

  • Know when to pay more for comfort or ease, such as airport parking or transfers
  • Use curbside service wherever possible
  • Take a carry-on in the largest permissible dimensions, packed with all your indispensables
  • Take an iPod with your favorite relaxing music, to de-stress while waiting, or in travel transit
  • Spring for some kind of short term travelers insurance
  • Travel with ear plugs (mechanical noise is an enormous stressor!)
  • Optional travel items - warm socks, pillow, protein bar etc.

And for stress free customs/security approval:

  • Call airport security ahead of time and see if anyone with your same name is on a security watch list

  • Use only TSA compliant baggage locks
  • Carry nothing prohibited by security, which can be anything from fresh fruit to nail clippers
  • No liquids, except for personal products in 2 oz. travel sizes
  • Carry a copy of all your prescriptions and a note from your doctor explaining your medical condition(s) kept with your medication
  • Slip on/off shoes for quick passage through the scanning line a carry-on that has easy access to your travel tickets, ID etc.
